Paws at the Point: A Sunset Send-Off to Beach Driving Season
What do you get when you mix a bunch of happy pups, sunset views, and a white Jeep flying a Crystal Coast Dog flag? One paw-sitively perfect evening.
This week, we wrapped up beach driving season on Emerald Isle with a casual community hangout at The Point, and let me tell you—our tails are still wagging. It was the kind of night that makes you want to bottle up the salty air, the belly laughs, and all the joyful barks just to relive it again and again.
Beach Dogs, Pup Cups & Jeep Vibes
We brought it all—literally. I had tennis balls (30 of them to be exact), whipped cream pup cups (the true crowd-pleaser), gallons of water, treat bags, and even bubbles (the dogs were… mildly suspicious). One family went full send and brought a grill, filling the beach with the mouthwatering scent of hamburgers. I was invited to snag one, but in true squirrel-brain fashion, I got distracted by dog cuddles and forgot—regrets were made.
Sunset Silhouettes & Unforgettable Moments
Even though I forgot a piece of my camera gear (seriously - where was my brain), my amazing friend stepped in with a backup, and we made magic anyway. One of my favorite captures? A silhouette of Indy—my honorary nephew and total Jeep king—chilling in his mom’s lap, ears perked and watching the chaos with pure judgment.
Some dogs chased waves, others dug craters in the sand (don’t worry—I filled them in… turtle season, duh), and one pup took a spontaneous swim. A few came just to vibe: one senior dog watched peacefully from the sidelines like the wise beach sage she is. And several folks joined the fun even without dogs—just happy to soak up the sunshine and pet every single pup in sight.
Off-Leash? Not My Circus
There is a leash law at The Point, and while I wasn’t policing it (because, nope), I reminded everyone to be mindful and respectful. We had plenty of space between vehicles, and all the dogs played safely and beautifully. I love this community more than I can say.
Can We Make This a Thing?
Honestly, I’d love for Paws at the Point to become an annual tradition—maybe even a twice-a-year one! Once in April to close out beach driving season and again in September to kick it off. The weather was perfect, the dogs were happy, and the humans had just as much fun.

If you were there, thank you for making it magical. If you missed it, don’t worry… we’ll do it again.
