Last of the Litter: Meet Flounder, an Adoptable Puppy Near morehead city, NC
Meet Flounder
He's about seven months old. Believed to be a Great Dane and Cane Corso mix. And he is, without question, one of the sweetest puppies I've had the privilege of photographing.
Flounder was pulled by Because of Bubbles Rescue from Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center. This was my first Rescue Photo Day with this organization, and if Flounder is any indication of the dogs in their care, it won't be my last.
The Last One Home
He was one of ten puppies in his litter. The last one still waiting.
I don't know why. He's gentle. He's affectionate. He listens. None of it adds up, except that sometimes the right person just takes a little longer to find their way to the right dog.
A Little Adventure at Carolina Home and Garden
His foster mom Kayla met me at Carolina Home and Garden in Newport, North Carolina, so Flounder could have a little adventure before his portraits. He roamed the gardens like he owned the place. Brave for a puppy his age. Curious about everything, startled by nothing.
Kayla says at home he's a big goofy boy who gets wild with his foster brother and sister, both dogs.
He showed me a different side. Quieter. Curious. Taking it all in.
Calm, Cuddly, and Treat-Motivated
We headed to the studio after the gardens, and Flounder was on his best behavior. He sat on command. He laid down on command. Mostly, though, he just wanted love. And treats. Equal amounts of both.
He's a hugger. A snuggler. The kind of puppy who leans his full weight into you and waits for you to lean back. Kayla says he thrives with other dogs, loves the resident cat, and is wonderful with kids. He's not picky about who loves him. He just wants to be included.
Kayla texted me the second she got him home.
"I think it wore him out lol."
That's the whole story right there. A long day, a good kind of tired, and a puppy who gave it everything he had.

A Quick Thank You
This Rescue Photo Day came together thanks to the generous support of K9 Corner Boutique. Because of them, Flounder now has photos that show exactly who he is, which gives him a better shot at finding his people.
Sponsorships like this make a real difference. They help cover the time, travel, and gear that go into each session, so more rescue dogs can be photographed without adding pressure to the organizations caring for them.
Crystal Coast Dog serves clients and rescue organizations across the Crystal Coast and coastal Carolinas, and is available for travel.
